Meet the Parents: Nelly

Meet Nelly, who is a parent of another one of our Chilliwack program participants, Ryan. Nelly says she first heard about the Pathways program from school, and ultimately selected the program for Ryan based on Pathways’ good references.

She says she appreciates Pathways programs because they lend a sense of purpose for Ryan. Ryan enjoys swimming and volunteering at the Salvation Army during his time at Pathways, and he learns valuable life skills from the program. Nelly says she is happy taking Ryan to Pathways because he feels safe there.

We at Pathways understand that feeling safe is important for everyone, and connecting with the community in which you live is also important in establishing that sense of security. Taking part in social events or group exercise, or even going for a walk can add to a feeling of safety and stability.

To other parents who may be considering a Pathways program for their child, Nelly believes that Pathways “is a very good program for individuals with a variety of challenges”.
